The freedom 251 scam might not be a trending topic now but it surely was the talk of the talk then and we think knowing about the scam might help you to be safe in the future. And that is why we are going to tell you all about the freedom 251 scam.
Freedom 251 is one of the very few smartphones that are developed and made in India. This one, in particular, was being developed by a Noida based company named Ringing Bells Pvt. Ltd. And here are its specifications:
|Screen size||4- inch|
|Display type||qHD IPS Display|
|Screen resolution||960 x 540 pixels|
|Processor||1.3 GHz MediaTek Quad-Core Processor|
|Internal storage||8 GB|
|Rear camera||3.2 MP|
|Front camera||VGA front camera|
When you look at the specifications you will see that there is nothing very exciting about this smartphone and it seems to be like any other affordable smartphone. But what is affordability according to you? We would expect these smartphones to cost anywhere around Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000, right? Well, guess what that is not the case here. This one is priced at just Rs 215.
Is It OK To Buy Freedom 251?
Now, would you like to buy this device?
We are guessing that you would. But wait till you know the full story.
Ringing Bells Pvt. Ltd. is a company that nobody has heard about. And it suddenly comes with an outstanding offer that it is offering smartphones at just Rs 251. While we fail to gather information about the company, three names have been out in the public. Rajesh Kumar, Sushma Devi, and Mohit Kumar Goel are known to be the names behind this company.
Apart from that, there are a lot of political names joined with this freedom 251 scam. To begin with, the smartphone was launched by Mr Murli Manohar who is a Member of the Parliament. The timing of the launch was such that it was quite obvious that it was shown as an achievement of Modi’s Made in India policy where the Prime Minister urges the Indians to buy more and more items that are made in our country.
The Big Picture
Even if we accept that it has something to do with the government or is subsidized by them, one cannot believe that a smartphone that can go as high as Rs 2,00,000 can also cost just Rs 251. Not just this, there are so many other controversies related to the freedom 251 scam where the media claims that the device that was revealed had the name of another brand under the notch and so many other rumors.
Now, how could one get the Freedom 251? It was quite simple then. All you had to do was pay a sum of Rs 251 online and book a set for yourself. But there’s a catch. The customers who booked the device and paid the money did not even receive a confirmation regarding the order. So, you can very well think how many of them got the device delivered to their doorstep.
So, if years from now when you hear a similar offer or scheme would you like to invest or rather waste your money on it? We, surely won’t. The Freedom 251 scam was a good enough example for us.
