The first mobile phone game in the history of the invention of mobile phones is Tetris which involved the stacking of shapes by the gamer. This game was featured in the Hagenuk MT-2000 mobile phone in the year 1994. This mobile phone was designed and manufactured by the Hagenuk Corporation in Denmark.


If you are a 90s kid this game would be a very nostalgic one for you. After all who hasn’t played this game on the Nokia cell phone. Snake was launched in the year 1997 and all of the Nokia devices came with the game preinstalled. Well, did you know this is one of the most played video games of all time? Nokia has already set records where its 1100 model was the most sold one and this is another one of those.

Space invaders

Later in the year 2002, mobile phones had this game called Space Invaders preinstalled in them and it was quite loved and appreciated as well. However, this was initially an arcade game and was developed by Tomohiro Nishikado and made available to the gamer in 1978.

The N-Gage Phone

Next year, in 2003 Nokia launched a mobile phone named N-Gage which was not your regular cell phone. Rather, it was a feature phone and a handheld gaming device that provides users or gamer a better experience while playing different games. Unfortunately, this device from Nokia did not invite a lot of attention and popularity and thus wasn’t successful.

The first commercially successful game, Angry Birds was launched in the year 2009 and since then many games were appreciated and loved by the gamer. This is how we have moved from the first mobile phone game, Tetris to these very addictive and commercially successful games.
