If you think about smartphones today, certain brands cross your mind without even laying a lot of stress on your brain. The same is the case with this Redmi and the Redmi 8A specifications. These brands have taken the budget smartphone game above a notch and manage to steal the limelight every time they launch a new model.
When the invention of mobile phones was a new thing mobile phones were not everyone’s cup of tea since they weren’t as inexpensive as they are today. But, decades after the invention we have mobile phones rather than smartphones that are as cheap as just 3000 rupees.
However, when you are looking for a good smartphone with all the basic features you have to extend your budget a little and you have the option to choose from brands like Redmi, Realme, Vivo, etc.
Today we have for you the Redmi 8A review and Redmi 8A specifications while helping you decide if you should buy it or not.
|Processor||1.95Ghz Snapdragon 439 processor|
|Display||6.22- inch Dot Notch HD+ Display|
|Front Camera||8 MP|
|Rear Camera||12 MP|
|RAM||2 GB/ 3GB/ 4GB|
Redmi 8A is a smartphone that is tall and large. With curved edges, it becomes a little more comfortable but it still has thick bezels and a considerable chin. You get the front camera in the waterdrop notch at the display. Another thing that attracts my attention is the Redmi logo which is quite bold and out there. The back panel features a wave-like design which is quite common in Redmi and Realme phones and has been termed as the Aura Wave Grip Design. It is quite clear that this design is more than just a pattern. It is believed to support the grip of the user since it is a heavy phone. The phone comes in three color options- Midnight Black, Ocean Blue, and Sunset Red. The last color option has a gradient effect going on which looks quite cool, to be honest. Xiaomi claims the phone is both fingerprint and splash resistant.
You get a 6.22- inch IPS LCD with this smartphone and it has a resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. The corners are rounded to match the shape of the edges and have a Gorilla Glass 5 protection. These numbers may not seem enough but the phone performs much better in person. The images and videos you watch on this display are not very softened but sharp and quite true to their color. The viewing angles are also good but the brightness is the only thing that it lacks. Forget about the sunlight, even in artificial light, you will want to have a higher brightness on the phone.
In terms of the software, the Redmi 8A specifications of the phones are quite similar to its previous models. In this case, the Redmi 8A has a similar processor to that of the 7A model. Both of these have an octa-core processor. You get to choose from two variants, one with 2GB RAM and another with 3GB RAM. The operating system on this phone is the Android 9 Pie. You do not get an app library or swipe up feature on this smartphone. Rather all of these are placed on the home screen and not all of us are comfortable with that interface. At least not me. Moreover, you get the usual heavy amount of pre-installed applications in this smartphone. But, a good thing is that it comes with a Dual Apps feature which allows the user to run two instances of supported apps.
The camera setup in the Redmi 8A is not an impressive one. It is a single 12-megapixel camera which has a Sony sensor and, in the front, you get an 8-megapixel camera. The different features you will come across in their app are photo, video, Portrait, Pro, Short Video mode, and HDR and AI scene detection. In broad daylight, you will feel no less than a professional photographer with the easy to focus camera, but in low light conditions, you will find yourself struggling a bit. Again, in daylight, you get a good depth, nice detailing, and near to accurate colors. However, in low light, all these qualities disappear and the camera doesn’t perform that well.
The performance of the smartphone is quite decent, just like its other features. With basic light apps, you will have a delightful experience but in the case of heavy large apps, you must wait a minute since it takes time to load. Multitasking is a huge problem with the Redmi 8A and every time you go to the app running in the background, you will have to restart it. The face recognition works quite quickly as well.
You get a 5000mAh battery and support an 18W fast charging charger as well. The battery capacity is quite enough and even when you use the smartphone more than regularly the battery is not drained completely. It takes a lot of time to get charged completely which is like 2 and half hours. So, you might want to invest in an 18W fast charger when buying this one.
|Tough build quality||No fingerprint sensor|
|Good battery capacity||No fast charging|
|Type- C port|
|Quick face recognition technology|
If you have even the slightest idea about Redmi phones you would know that they have a huge variety of different series.
