iCloud was launched on October 12, 2011, by Apple Inc. and is a cloud storage and cloud computing service. The service was reported to have been run by 850,000,000 users by 2018, up from 782 million in 2016.

iCloud allows users to save on remote servers for download to iOS, macOS or Windows devises data for text, picture and music, and to exchange data, and to transfer data, if lost, or stolen to other users, or to find my phone and to control their Apple devices.

iCloud offers the means, instead of relying on manual backups on a host MAC or Windows computer with iTunes, for wireless backup of iOS devices directly to iCloud. Service users can also automatically upload images, music, and games through AirDrop’s wireless accounts.

Apple’s MobileMe service has been replaced by iCloud, serving as an email, touch, schedule, bookmark, notes, reminders (to-do list), documents, images, and other data sync centers.

Requirement Of The System

The development of the iCloud account includes iOS 5 or later, or Mac running OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later, as well as Internet and compatible web browser connections. Also, some features have their own minimum OS version specifications. To share pictures, for example, iCloud requires OS X Mavericks v10.9 or higher.

Devices that run older macOS versions or iOS (under 7) after the iCloud password is modified may not be able to sign in to iCloud: the only solution to this problem is to update the OS that may not be feasible to a computer that fails to meet the minimum of newer OS requirements.

To synchronize with a pc, Windows 7 or later and using the iCloud Control Panel and the 2007 or later Outlook, or the Windows 10 mail and calendar apps built-in, must be synced with calendar, contacts, and recalls. Bookmark synchronization includes Safari 5.1.1 or later on macOS, and IE 9, Firefox 22, or Google Chrome 28 or later on Windows.

How It All Started

iCloud was revealed at Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2011 on 6 June 2011[21]. (WWDC). Apple announced the discontinuation of MobileMe after June 30, 2012, free of charge to anyone who has an account before the unveiling of iCloud to expand MobileMe service.

Apple Developers took part in August in the official website iCloud was made available on 12 October 2011 for use via an iTunes update. In less than a week, iCloud had 20 million users after its launch. A Swedish company named Xcerion, which rebooked its service to CloudMe, was purchasing the domain and registered trademark. Cloud-based framework provides users with the ability to store heterogeneous music, images, games, documents, signs, reminders, backups, notebooks, and contacts. Restore And Backup  The backup of data includes photos and video in the camera roll, system settings, app data, messages (e.g. iMessage, SMS, and MMS), ringtones, and Visual Voicemails.Save-ups occur regularly when the device is locked and linked to Wi-Fi and a power source. In this respect, iCloud providers will back up settings and data on iOS devices that are run on iOS 5 or later. During the recovery process, iCloud will only restore data in combination with the App data if the computer is synced to iCloud and backed up in case of a malfunction in any Apple device.  
Return To Mac  This service allows users to connect to other devices that are allowed to Back to My Mac and configured using the same Apple ID from the system. Apple updated the support document on August 9, 2018, to note that Back to My Mac was not included in the upcoming Mojave macOS (10.14) release. This service is now part of iCloud.

The app had to be enabled by the Find My iPhone App installed and the location of both the tracker and the device found.

  • Click Sound play. If the sound is online and linked to the internet, the missing iOS device will play. It will enable find my phone.
